I am a New York-based professional fitness and health instructor. At Prudent Fitness, my private, Brooklyn training studio, I create custom-tailored, one-on-one exercise programs for artists, athletes, celebrities, chefs, executives, retirees, parents, and others facing various life events and challenges in a hectic city.
For more than a decade, I've trained clients using my own interdisciplinary method, developed over years spent training in sports (basketball, football, track & field), dance (ballet, modern, jazz, African), yoga, and martial arts.
I begin with a detailed assessment of my client's current physical condition: checking for medical risk factors, cardiovascular health, joint integrity, muscle strength and endurance. I continue with posture/gait analysis and range-of-movement testing.
Next, I take weight, girth and body-fat measurements. This information is all kept completely private and confidential.
With your personal stats in hand and your goals in mind, I design specific exercises to improve your functional capacities. As we work, I explain the principles behind each movement so you can apply them on your own.
My training style combines well-known lifts and stretches with intrinsic contractions, postural alignments and focused breathing techniques. I engage a client's deep abdominal, pelvic floor and low-back muscles (the core) with movements and loads, using common fitness tools in unusual combinations.
With the simplest gear -- a physio ball, a foam roller, a yoga block -- I create increasingly intense challenges for my client's upper- and lower-body as well as balance and stabilizer muscles. Kettlebells, weights, shot puts, and medicine balls are standard equipment, but wooden logs, sand bags and tree swings are not out of the question. I also practice PNF/Active-Isolated deep stretching and massage techniques.
